Choosing a Wedding Theme

When planning a wedding, choosing theme never really entered my mind. When I think of the word “theme” I think of a type of character or well-known symbol. However the more that I thought about having a wedding theme, the more I realized that all weddings have a theme. While the theme may be more suitably considered a “mood”, in essence it is still a theme. I have been to weddings that have had a cowboy or country theme where the bridesmaids and groomsmen wore boots. I have been to a wedding with a John Deere theme where everything was … Continue reading

Theme’s The Word: Wedding Themes

Fall is just right around the corner and soon the days will be cooling (please!) and the nights will be even cooler (yay!) and in most areas of the country, the leaves on the trees will begin to change color and the grass will begin yellow and brown (it’s already burnt here) and we’ll be getting ready for a host of Autumnal events including Halloween and Thanksgiving. So in honor of the soon to be changing (can’t change soon enough) seasons, I wanted to share with you some wedding theme ideas. A little planning and creativity can go a long … Continue reading

Adding Unique Touches to Wedding Scrapbooks

February is a huge month for weddings. Valentine’s Day elopements and destination nuptials are major draws for couples looking to begin their lives as husband and wife. Once the pomp and circumstance is over, you’ll want to create a scrapbook to house all of your special memories. Unfortunately, wedding scrapbooks can often look generic if you don’t experiment with different techniques. This doesn’t mean you have to purchase expensive products or spend hours on a single page design in order to achieve an eye-popping layout. Rather, there are many ways you can infuse your book with creative touches with very … Continue reading

Selecting a Theme

It’s a rare scrapbooker that can turn a bunch of random pictures into a cohesive story. Typically, memory albums are created with a particular theme in mind. By selecting a theme, it’s easier to sort photos and create layouts that yield a natural flow. This makes it much easier for a reader to make sense of your page designs. Choosing a theme is a relatively simple task, or at least it should be. One of the most popular scrapbook themes is the holiday album. Whether it is Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Fourth of July or Easter, the sky is the limit … Continue reading

Choosing Your Wedding Cake

Ah, the wedding cake. Probably the item most scrutinized, with the exception of the wedding dress. Have you chosen what kind of cake you’d like for your wedding? Let’s look at some of the different styles. This cake is probably one of the most classic. Each tier is set on a small plastic tray, and those trays are then snapped onto columns, which are snapped onto the bottom layer. You can put anything you like between the layers, as shown here with this couple’s use of goblets. This style of cake is probably the second-most classic. The layers are stacked … Continue reading

Selecting the Flowers for Your Wedding

Earlier, we talked about choosing the size of your wedding bouquet. Now it’s time to break the whole flower thing down to the finer basics – what kinds of flowers do you want? There are a number of different variables to go into the equation. Let’s take a look at them. 1. What time of year are you getting married? If you’re working with a florist, you can be almost sure of getting the flowers you want, regardless of season, because florist flowers are grown in greenhouses. However, there are some things, such as waxflower, which are only available during … Continue reading

An Unforgettable Wedding?

Planning a wedding, can be a joy, or a nightmare. This depends largely on the people involved and their attitude towards the eventand to the marriage. What it should do is reflect the taste and personalities of the couple whose wedding it is. That was certainly true for Kevin Heinz and Jill Petersen who not only boogied up the aisle on their wedding day but then put the video of it up on You Tube. Since then it has been viewed by millions of people. In the video the entire bridal party, including with bride and groom boogey their way.The … Continue reading

Ashlee and Pete’s Fairy Tale Wedding

It might’ve had a fairy tale ending, but the theme of Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s wedding was based on a more bizarre children’s tale: Alice in Wonderland. No surprise there given that the newlyweds are self-professed fans of the “twisted, unique and unusual.” Another non-surprise: the wedding date. Ever since Wentz proposed to his pregnant gal pal last month rumors have been flying that the two would be marrying this weekend at her parent’s Southern California home. And so it came to be… last night the singer and her Fall Out Boy bassist fiancé wed in front of 150 … Continue reading

Have a Unique Wedding Shower

As we all know, the season for weddings and wedding planning is upon us. As I walked through Target over the weekend I saw young women roaming the store with scanners and selecting the items that they wished to have on their wedding gift registry. Target is among some of the most popular places for women to register for wedding gift items. Wal-Mart, Linens and Things, and department stores such as Dillards are also popular choices. The most common wedding gift registry items include towels, dishes, silverware, home furnishings, and small appliances. In most cases the items are more directed … Continue reading
