Oh, YES … Continue reading

The Mail Order Bride

Oddly enough, over the years – I’ve read some pretty strange stories. More often than not – the stranger the story – the more likely it is to have a kernel of truth in it. I mean, seriously – 20 years ago would you have imagined there would be a dearth of movies based on television shows from the 70s and 80s – the Dukes of Hazard was a Friday night television show along with Dallas and the Incredible Hulk – now two of those have been made into feature films and the third one is on the way. But … Continue reading

Wedding Videos: A Costly, Priceless Memoir

Wedding albums seem to be on their way out of standard wedding protocol, and videos are in. How did this happen and why? Well, with all the technological advances available today, memories are going the way of all things, namely digital. A wedding is a special day to be sure, and with a wedding video, the bride and groom and their happiness are the stars of their own moving picture show. While a photograph certainly captures specific moments, like toasts and kisses and the like, it is not the same as actually reliving, moment by moment, the hours minutes and … Continue reading

Here are some ways to save on the cost of attending a wedding. Clothing For a fancy formal wedding, consider renting your gown or tux instead of buying one. My Fake High School Wedding

This is the story of how I planned my wedding in high school. I’ll give you all a moment to recover from the shock: Families.com’s laid-back marriage blogger, she of the gender stereotyping rants and “what’s the big fuss” attitude toward schmoopy romance and wedding culture planned a wedding in her high school days. Never fear: I did it because I had to for class. My crazy gym/health teacher, the same woman who’d also make us write papers for our self-defense gym classes, made all of her students plan weddings as part of our sexual health education unit. It had … Continue reading

The Nominations Are In!

My morning started out bad. I was so excited about the Oscar nominations (as I normally am), but I missed the official announcement because I am not good at math. Somehow in my mind, 5:30 PST worked out to be 9:30 CST. Only after I got in the car and heard the people on the radio talking about who had been nominated did I realize my mathematical mistake. Rats! Anyhow, there were a few surprises. Bridesmaids did not get a nomination for Best Picture as many had hoped, but Melissa McCarthy did pick of a Best Supporting Actress nod for … Continue reading
