Dr. Phil’s Advice on Making Deals

Dr. Phil recently did a show on How to Negotiate Anything. He spoke to a couple about negotiating foot ball viewing. She worked with a moms and daughters on curfew and college choice issues. He helped a couple negotiate organ an donation agreement. All of that was well and good, but what interested me most was how to save money with negotiation. Dr. Phil had a salesperson and prospective car buyers on the show. The salesperson was one who built his clientele from repeat business, so he was comfortable telling a few secrets on negotiating on a car. Rule number … Continue reading

Mackenzie Phillips Arrested for Drug Possession

Hum, maybe some day, celebrities will realize that their messed up lives can affect their kids. Scratch that, maybe ALL parents will realize that their messed up lives can affect their kids. But, anyhow, for right now, I will talk about the latest celebrity child in the news – Mackenzie Phillips. For those that don’t know, Mackenzie is the oldest daughter of now-deceased folk singer John Phillips. By the way, Mackenzie counts among her half siblings former Wilson Phillips member China Phillips and actress/model Bijou Phillips. John came to prominence in the Sixties with the group the Mamas and the … Continue reading

Dr. Phil Can’t Keep His Mouth Shut

I really had no opinion of Dr. Phil McGraw prior to his involvement in the Britney Spears fiasco. And to be honest, I still remain indifferent about his show and really could care less about how he lives his life; however, I do feel compelled to discuss his most recent displays of questionable behavior. I’d call it hypocrisy, but the good doctor would likely disagree. Take a look at Dr. Phil’s latest antics and you make the call: By know you know that last month Dr. Phil was contacted by Britney Spears’s family who asked if he would please meet … Continue reading

More Dirt on the Dr. Phil Fiasco

In a previous blog I mentioned that talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw is reportedly being investigated by the California Board of Psychology for practicing without a license while visiting Britney Spears’ after her latest meltdown. Well, now it appears the in your face Texan may be getting off the hook. While California authorities are mandated to investigate any time a complaint is filed (in Dr. Phil’s case a complaint was filed last week by a practicing shrink who alleges McGraw, who does not hold a license to practice psychology in California, violated doctor-patient privilege by discussing the derailed singer’s … Continue reading

Dr. Phil Has No Friends

Dr. Phil may be ruing the day he even heard the name Britney Spears. Since getting involved in the trainwreck’s life not only has he been sanctioned by his “colleagues,” the outspoken Texas transplant is learning he has no friends in Hollywood. First thing’s first—-it’s important to note that despite all the hoopla surrounding the TV shrink giving advice to the Spears family, and then issuing a statement regarding the derailed singer’s psychological condition, documents prove Phillip McGraw has never been licensed to practice in California, and he retired his Texas license in 2006. With that said, TMZ.com is reporting … Continue reading

Spears Family Slams Dr. Phil

I can’t help but think of all the guests that have appeared on Dr. Phil McGraw’s syndicated talk show and had to endure the host shouting his trademark line, “What are you thinking?” in their faces… on national TV. Today those same people are probably wondering how Dr. Phil feels to be on the other side of the firing squad. “What were you thinking?” It’s a question Britney Spears’s family is demanding Dr. Phil answer in regards to making public statements and (in their opinion) a mockery of the singer’s questionable mental state. The truth about Dr. Phil’s involvement with … Continue reading

Dr. Phil Cancels Britney Intervention Show

So much for that televised Britney Spears intervention Dr. Phil had hoped would make him as famous as his boss Oprah. According to his website, Dr. Phil McGraw has officially canceled plans to devote an entire show to Britney Spears’ “difficulties.” The good doc calls the situation surrounding his meeting with the derailed pop star and the subsequent show “too intense.” Aw, gee, ya think sending out press releases, blanketing the airwaves with ads for your upcoming show, then showing up on “Entertainment Tonight,” “The Insider,” and CBS’s “The Early Show” bragging about your “relationship” with the Spears family and … Continue reading

Dr. Phil Defends Britney Ambush

Two days after being accused of ambushing Britney Spears as she prepared to leave her involuntary lockdown at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Phil McGraw hightailed it over to CBS’s “The Early Show” this morning to defend his actions. His interview just aired and frankly I was unimpressed. Despite his argument that the only reason he went to see the troubled pop star was because her parents begged him to, I still maintain the TV shrink smelled fresh meat and went in for the… TV intervention. For those of you who don’t keep tabs on the good doc, McGraw announced Saturday … Continue reading

Dr. Phil Smells Fresh Meat and Her Name is Britney Spears

Quick… name the one person you would have least expected to show up at Britney Spears’s hospital room to offer psychological aid to the embattled songstress. Okay, besides Robin Williams. If you answered Dr. Phil McGraw go out and buy yourself a lottery ticket. Dr. Phil… Britney Spears… could the insanity meter gauging this drama peak any more? You’ve got a 26-year-old head shaving, bird flipping, finger lickin’ mother of two young sons who appears to have serious psychological problems and you throw an oversized, over-hyped, TV quack into the mix… Apocalypse now. And the sad part is that Dr. … Continue reading

Why Dr. Phil?

“American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks belted out “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” Country singer Wilson crooned “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” Even 12-year-old “America’s Got Talent” champ Bianca Ryan chimed in with her rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” And, let’s not forget pop-opera quartet Il Divo’s take on the holiday classic “White Christmas.” All incredibly talented singers and worthy of being invited to perform at the annual “Christmas in Washington” concert at the National Building Museum. However, there was one name (okay, two) on the list that made me raise an eyebrow– TV talk show … Continue reading
